Tomcat 8 provides support for use of the Java non-blocking implementation (NIO) for both HTTP and AJP as its default connector implementation. It is also aligned with Java EE 7 and also supports updated version of the Java EE specifications – this among many others are several of the improvements to Tomcat 7 present in Tomcat 8 hosting.
Features such as Aliases, VirtualLoader, VirtualDirContext, JAR resources and external repositories have been replaced by a new resources implementation feature.
